Jennah Mitchell & Co. Proudly Announces that Thepainteddiaper.com is Partnering with a Haiti Orphanage to Raise Funds for Their Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
Thepainteddiaper.com has teamed up with God's Littlest Angels, an orphanage dedicated to working with children, babies, and prematurely born infants. Together they are raising money and awareness for the orphanage's Neonatal Intensive Care center.
KALISPELL, MT, November 02, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Thepainteddiaper.com is pleased to announce that starting on November 1, 2011, they will be partnering with God's Littlest Angels - an independent, non-denominational orphanage ministry in Haiti -to raise money on behalf of their premature baby care center. God's Littlest Angels runs one of the only Neonatal Intensive Care Units in Haiti; the money raised will be used to purchase life-saving medical equipment - more specifically, warming beds - for the center, and will help increase the orphanage's ability to give children born prematurely a chance to flourish and thrive.
Asha Grinnell, the founder of thepainteddiaper.com, and her husband Stuart know firsthand the effects that premature birth can have on both the baby and the baby's family; not very long ago, the couple watched their first child lay in a life-giving warming beds as she struggled to so much as breath on her own. They also know what the gift of medical equipment, like the warming bed their own daughter needed to survive, would mean to the babies in Haiti and to those that work at the orphanage's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
To help raise money, thepainteddiaper.com is embarking on a 40-day fundraising event in which Asha Grinnell is committing to painting one miniature work of art on a preemie diaper per day for forty days. Each day a new diaper will be featured on the website, and readers will be provided with an on-going option to donate money to the cause. At the end of the 40-day project, all of the diapers will be sold through a silent auction online to raise further funds for the orphanage.
When Asha's daughter, Alana, was in the hospital, she wore preemie diapers that had to fold in half to fit around her little body, because at less than four pounds even those small diapers dwarfed her. Asha chose to paint on preemie diapers because they hold such poignant meaning for her, as well as for countless other babies across the world. While diapers are an everyday item in many households, the thought that the tiny babies wearing them are fighting for their lives, makes the everyday seem much more personal.
November is Prematurity Awareness month, and thepainteddiaper.com is using that as its launch platform for this fundraising event. The cost of one warming bed is $6,750.00, and the goal of both thepainteddiaper.com and God's Littlest Angels is that adequate funds would be raised to allow the orphanage to purchase at least one warming bed to add to their existing inventory. This would allow them to help countless more children in the years to come.
God's Littlest Angels is a 501(c)(3) non-profit Christian ministry incorporated in the State of Colorado. In 2000, GLA Canada was formed and is a registered Canadian Charity. All financial donations received in the United States, Canada, and France will receive a tax-deductible receipt.
